Request a tradie

Privacy policy

Last updated: November 2026

The key points

  • We are Safe As Houses Trades, run by The Pink Clicks Pty Ltd.
  • When you ask for a quote, we pass your details to one tradie. The tradie pays us for each request we send them.
  • We only collect health details, like the need for a grab rail, if you agree.
  • We never pass your details to any other business unless you say yes first.
  • We use cookies and advertising tools on our website. You can say no to them.
  • Some of the companies that help us run the website store information overseas.
  • You can ask to see or fix your information at any time.
  • Questions? Email info@safeashousestrades.com

Who we are

Safe As Houses Trades is a business name of The Pink Clicks Pty Ltd (ACN 673 973 174). We’re based in Melbourne, Victoria. We connect older homeowners, and the people who help them, with local tradies.

In this policy, “we” and “us” means Safe As Houses Trades. “You” means anyone whose information we hold.

We handle personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. We handle health information under the Health Records Act 2001 (Victoria) as well.

What we collect from homeowners and helpers

When you ask for a quote, we collect:

  • the trade you need and details of the job
  • who the job is for, and whether the home is owned or rented
  • when you need the work done
  • the suburb and postcode
  • your name, phone number and email
  • your choices about consent and marketing
  • how you found us, such as which ad you clicked (see “Our website, cookies and ads”)

You don’t have to give us your details. But without a name and a phone number or email, we can’t pass your request to a tradie.

Health details

Some jobs, like grab rails or ramps, may tell us something about a person’s health, mobility or care. For those jobs we may ask whether the work is funded through Support at Home or recommended by an occupational therapist. You can choose not to answer.

We only collect health details with your consent. We only share them with the tradie doing the job. We never use them for advertising.

Please don’t put medical details in the job description unless the tradie needs to know them.

If you’re asking for someone else

Many people fill in our form for a parent or relative. If you do, please:

  • check they’re happy for you to give us their details, and for us to pass them to one tradie
  • show them this policy, or tell them what’s in it

If the person can’t make this decision themselves, the request should come from someone legally allowed to act for them.

We, or the tradie, will check with the homeowner before any work goes ahead.

What we collect from tradies

When a tradie signs up, we collect their name, business name, mobile, email, trades, services and the suburbs they cover.

Before we list a tradie, we also collect and check:

  • their ABN, using the public ABN Lookup
  • their trade licence or registration, using the relevant Victorian register
  • a current public liability certificate of currency
  • results from the ASIC banned and disqualified register, for the business and its directors
  • a national police check issued within the 2 years before they give it to us
  • 2 or 3 recent reviews or references, including the referees’ names and phone numbers
  • their agreement to our code of conduct for older customers

We also keep records of complaints, feedback, warnings, refunds, suspensions and removals.

If you’re a director or a referee, we may hold your name, your role, and the result of any check or reference.

Police checks

A police check contains criminal record information, which the law treats as sensitive. We only collect it with the tradie’s consent.

We record that we’ve seen the check, the date it was issued, the provider and reference number, and our decision. We delete our copy of the certificate within 30 days of checking it. Only authorised Safe As Houses staff who need it can see police check information.

We never ask tradies about spent convictions.

What our checks do and don’t cover

We check the items listed above when a tradie joins. After that, we check licences and insurance every 12 months and whenever insurance expires, and we ask for a new police check 2 years after we collected the last one. We don’t inspect every job, and we can’t guarantee the quality or price of any work. Please get a written quote before work starts.

Our website, cookies and ads

Our website uses cookies and similar tools. Some are needed for the site to work. Others help us measure our ads and show ads to people who’ve visited our site.

These tools may collect:

  • your device and browser type
  • your IP address and rough location
  • the pages you visit
  • the ad you clicked, including Google and Meta click codes

When you send us a request, we link the ad you clicked to your request. This shows us which ads work. To measure this, we send Google and Meta the ad click code and your email or phone in scrambled (hashed) form. We only do this if you accepted advertising cookies. We never send job details, and we don’t send anything about home safety requests.

We use Google Ads, the Meta Pixel, Google Analytics and Jetpack Stats.

We don’t use these tools on our home safety pages, and we never send health details to advertising companies.

Your choices:

  • When you first visit, you can accept or reject advertising cookies.
  • You can change your mind any time using the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.
  • You can also block cookies in your browser and change your ad settings with Google and Meta.

Why we use your information

We use homeowner and helper information to:

  • pass your request to one tradie, so they can contact you about a quote
  • find a new tradie, if we don’t have one near you yet
  • send you a confirmation and updates about your request
  • check in after the job about the price and quality
  • deal with complaints
  • measure and improve our ads and website
  • send you news and offers, only if you said yes

We use tradie information to:

  • decide whether to list a tradie, and keep checking they meet our standards
  • show a public profile to homeowners
  • send leads and invoices
  • deal with complaints, and warn, suspend or remove tradies when needed

Who we share information with

The tradie we match you with. We send your request to one tradie only. This includes your name, phone, email, suburb, postcode, job details and timing. The tradie pays us a fee for each request. They may contact you by phone, SMS or email. You don’t have to hire them.

A new tradie, if no one covers your area yet. We may hold your request while we find and check a new tradie. While we search, we only share the job type and suburb. We’ll tell you the tradie’s business name before we pass on your contact details.

Other businesses, only if you say yes. If we can’t help, we may offer to pass your request to another business, such as another trade service or platform. They may pay us for this. We will only do this if you tick the separate box and confirm again when we tell you who the business is. Saying no won’t affect your request with us.

Feedback. After a job, we may share your feedback with the tradie. We’ll ask you first before we include your name.

Public tradie profiles. Homeowners can see a tradie’s business name, trades, suburbs covered, licence number and the dates we checked them. We only show what the tradie has agreed to. We never publish police check details.

Companies that help us. This includes our website host, email provider and advertising platforms. They may only use the information to provide services to us, under their own terms.

Others where the law requires or allows it. For example, police, Consumer Affairs Victoria or a court.

We don’t sell lists of names to marketers.

You’ll still get messages about your request, such as confirmations and our check-in after the job.

Decisions made by computer

At the moment a person, not a computer program, decides which tradie gets each request and whether a tradie is listed, warned, suspended or removed. If that changes, we’ll update this policy to explain what decisions are made by computer and what information they use.

How we keep information safe

We store information in our website system and our email account. We use secure logins with two-step verification, limit who can see records, and use a secure upload for tradie documents.

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, or ask us to fix it if it’s wrong. Email info@safeashousestrades.com. We’ll reply within 30 days. There’s no charge to ask.

In rare cases the law lets us refuse, for example to protect someone else’s privacy. If we refuse, we’ll tell you why and how to complain.

If your information is lost or seen by someone who shouldn’t see it, we’ll act quickly to contain it. If it’s likely to cause you serious harm, we’ll tell you and the OAIC.
